A designer bag’s resale value is shaped by more than its original retail price. Lost Designer considers the exact house, model, size, material, colour, hardware, age, condition, inclusions and current buyer demand before providing a consignment estimate.

What affects a designer bag’s resale value?

Brand, model and size

Recognisable models and practical sizes can attract stronger demand, but value varies by the exact configuration and current market. Limited, discontinued and seasonal pieces are assessed individually rather than priced from a generic brand average.

Condition and structure

We assess the exterior, interior, handles or straps, corners, edges, glazing, hardware, lining, odour, shape and any repairs or alterations. Honest, detailed condition information helps establish a realistic position and protects buyer confidence.

Material, colour and hardware

Leather, canvas, exotic materials, fabric, colour and hardware finish can all influence demand. The same model can perform differently across materials and configurations.

Age and identifiers

Date codes, serial details, microchips, stamps and other identifiers help confirm the version and approximate period. They are considered alongside construction and authentication evidence, not used alone.

Original inclusions

Boxes, dust bags, straps, keys, locks, receipts and authenticity documents can support presentation and buyer confidence. Missing inclusions do not automatically prevent consignment.
