How Lost Designer Authenticates Luxury Pieces

Every item accepted by Lost Designer is reviewed before it reaches a buyer. Our process combines detailed inspection, clear condition documentation and independent authentication through LegitApp.

LegitApp authentication review used by Lost Designer

Independent authentication

Designer bags, watches and jewellery are assessed through LegitApp by two authenticators. Hermès items are reviewed by three authenticators. Every accepted item includes a physical authenticity certificate for the buyer.

Detailed item inspection

Authentication is not based on a single photograph or identifier. Depending on the item, the review can consider construction, materials, stitching, typography, stamps, serial or reference details, date codes or microchips, hardware, engravings, movement details, hallmarks and other brand-specific features.

Condition and authenticity are separate

An authentic item may still show wear, repairs, alterations or replaced components. We document relevant condition separately so buyers can understand both authenticity and the physical state of the exact piece.

Watches and jewellery

For watches, inspection may include the dial, case, bezel, crystal, crown, caseback, bracelet or strap, clasp, reference details, visible movement evidence where available and signs of modification. For jewellery, it may include signatures, hallmarks, metal, settings, stones, clasps, dimensions, weight where relevant, repairs and alterations.
