From label to payment

Four steps. All by post.

Start with a label request. We’ll email your label and packing instructions before you send your gold.

  1. Request your label

Tell us about your gold and where you’re sending it from. Photos are optional. We’ll email your label and packing instructions.

  2. Pack & post

Follow our packing instructions, attach your label and lodge your parcel. Keep your lodgement receipt. Please wait for your label before posting.

  3. Arrive, lock & test

Your postal rates lock when the parcel arrives. We weigh and test each piece to confirm its gold content.

  4. Receive payment

After assessment and seller verification, we arrange payment and email your itemised receipt. One $20 postage deduction applies.

One $20 postage deduction. Clearly shown.

When you sell by post, $20 is deducted from your final payout to cover postage. It is charged once per postal sale, not for each piece. Your payment breakdown will show this separately.

A clear starting point

What could your gold be worth?

Start with our postal buying rates in Australian dollars per gram. Your estimate includes one $20 postage deduction. Your rate locks when your parcel arrives.

Estimate your payout

Add the weight for each purity. Don’t know the weight or carat? You can still enquire below.

Estimated gold value
Postage deduction · once per sale−$20.00
Estimated payout

Indicative estimate only, not a price lock. Your postal rate locks when the parcel arrives. Verified weight and purity determine the final gold value, less one $20 postage deduction.

Today’s postal rates

For selling gold by post. These are separate from our in-store rates. The $20 deduction is applied to the total payout, not the per-gram rate.

Request a Postage Label

Tell us what you would like to send. You do not need to know the exact weight or purity. We’ll email your label and packing instructions. Please wait for these before posting anything.

Please do not include bank details or identity-document numbers in this initial enquiry. Privacy policy

How should I pack my gold?

Once postage is arranged, wrap each piece separately and secure it inside a sturdy, discreet box. Fill empty space so items cannot move, seal the box well and keep your lodgement receipt. Follow the specific packing and handover instructions we provide.

What we buy

Worn, broken or simply unworn.

Gold doesn’t need to be in perfect condition. We assess the gold content of each piece and explain how its value is calculated.

Gold jewellery

Rings, chains, bracelets, earrings and pendants. If your jewellery has stones, tell us so we can explain how these will be assessed.

Scrap & broken pieces

Single earrings, snapped chains, damaged clasps and pieces you no longer wear. Bring them as they are, or enquire about posting them.

Coins & bullion

Bring coins and bullion to the boutique, or contact us first about transport. Do not send bullion using a standard postal label.

Gold pieces for assessment at Lost Designer

Before you decide

Your questions, answered.

When does my postal gold price lock?

Your rate locks when your parcel arrives, using our postal buying rates at that time. The calculator is an estimate, not a price lock. We then verify the weight and purity of each piece. Later changes in gold prices do not change the rate locked for your parcel.

Why are postal and in-store rates different?

Postal and in-store sales have separate buying rates. Postal rates are selected by default above. Postal sales also have a single $20 postage deduction, shown separately in your estimate and payment breakdown.

Is the $20 deducted for every item?

No. The $20 postage deduction applies once per postal sale, not per piece or purity. Your payment breakdown shows the gold value, this deduction and the final amount paid.

Will you send me an offer to accept?

No. For postal gold, you authorise the payment process when registering. After your parcel arrives, we calculate the payout from the locked postal rates and verified weight and purity, deduct $20 once for postage, and arrange payment. You do not need to accept a second offer.

How quickly will I get paid?

We arrange postal payment once assessment and the required identity and payment details are complete. We’ll confirm when payment has been sent; bank processing times can vary. In-store payment is arranged at the boutique after you agree to sell.

Can I post my gold straight away?

Please enquire first and wait for our instructions. We need to confirm the items, carrier arrangements and any applicable cover before you send valuables. Bullion needs separate transport approval and must not be sent with a standard postal label.

What if I don’t know the purity or weight?

That’s fine. Describe the pieces and any stamps or hallmarks you can see. The calculator is optional. We confirm the actual gold weight and purity during assessment, and explain any deductions for non-gold components separately.
